Hi all,

So while I haven't been the best at updating the blog over other social media platforms. I have been using it to ensure that some of our updated reference documents are available to folk outside of our internal web-pages :)

This year saw the adoption of the following two documents:

KU Invasive Flora Management Plan (2023)
and our Good Practice Document 9: Alternatives to invasive non-native ornamental grasses for use in Kingston University Landscaping projects (2023) 

If you've not spotted them - scan your eyes to the right, and have a look though our Kingston University Biodiversity: policies and plans menu 😃

No promises to be better at updating the blog next year - as I only want to make resolutions that I have a chance of keeping 😆! But I will try my best 😄

We did it! 12 sites surveyed with 11 surveyors over the four days that we did our counts - read on for more details :)

The week after we were at Roehampton vale working on our pollinator beds at the back of the campus. 

5-10-2022: Improving Penrhyn Road campus for invertibrates

 

A few new additions to the brown roofs on our Town House building in September, adding small log piles to each of our accessible brown roofs. Each one will provide a point of cover for invertebrates as well as create small pockets of shelter on the roof for plant seeds to flourish.

13-11-2021: Winter Woodland Workshop 2021

Willow Workings in the Woods

Saturday saw us back in the woods at Kingston Hill on our biannual woodland workshop event. 

We continued to build on our skills using willow to weave – and created a number of items perfect for mini Christmas presents; all while learning different basic skills.

26-28-11-21: Hedgerowing in Tolworth part 2

 Last week we were out with the fantastic team from the Conservation volunteers finishing off our first laying of our hedgerow that was planted in 2012.

We had a great time in April digging out the rhodo root icebergs at Kingston Hill - so named, as they were definitely hiding the majority of their mass underground.
