This means that they don't have flight instincts. If are you gardening or doing habitat work on a site doing things like raking up pile of leaves, strimming scrub or lighting bonfires and you have hedgehogs in the area, you are risking injuring or killing them.
Join our social media campaign using art to showcase the impacts of our 10 things (in this case gardening and habitat work), on wildlife, especially hedgehogs - we are challenging everyone to take part.
Draw - Photograph - Sculpt - Act -Mime etc. and post on all platforms. Please tag @HogFriendly @SHkingstonuni and add as many different people as possible - ask them to make their own version and then keep spreading the word. Use #Hedgehoghelpers #KUHoglets #HHfacts on all of your posts so that we can try to find them.
Lets try to take over social media with #Hedgehoghelpers #HHfacts
Things that you can do to help with the problem
Always:
- Listen for animals like hedgehogs that might be hiding.
- Check for hedgehogs in areas of long habitat or before impaling piles of scrub and cuttings with forks to move them.
- and then Do the work when you know its safe.
Until next time
