Bird survey results for all of our sites (hopefully it should open up if you click on it on a mobile device) |
We had 7 volunteers and me, surveying 13 sites over 21 surveys, some sites were surveyed more then once - with the results amalgamated, and others were surveyed in shorter stints if a survey was interrupted, with people going back to finish the surveys off another day, or later in the same day.
Of the 695 individual birds surveyed, we had 40 identified to species level. In our site leader board, Middle Mill came out top again this year, with 18 species, unfortunately Hind Court had the least seen, with only 2 species spotted.
The most common bird across our sites was the carrion crow - found on all 13 sites, with the next most common bird seen on our site being the humble pigeon!
But we've also had a rarity spotted by the team at Dorich House checked on line, by comparing photos to what they had spotted was the Ruby-Crowned Kinglet - which is an American species, very very rare spotted in the UK. I don't think they got any photos, but if anyone else knows of any records associated with Richmond Park (we are just over the wall from the park) let us know!

I'll bid you adieu until next time and leave you with this image of our most common bird at Kingston Uni this year, until next time :)
